No Matter How Inspired, You Have to Take Action

"Inspiration does exist, but it must find you working."

~Pablo Picasso

Creativity and inspiration will only lead to excellence when it is followed by action.  You can have the best ideas in the world, but if you don't work to bring them to fruition, they remain just ideas.  Dreams are fine, but fulfilling those dreams requires work.

This week:  Take a look at some of the ideas you have had upon which you haven't acted.  What has stopped you?  Has it been a reluctance to take action?  If so, why?  What is it you believe about taking that action that is stopping you from moving forward with your idea(s)?  Challenge yourself this week.  Take one of your ideas, and take some action about it.  Notice if it changes how you feel about the idea.  Will taking more action help you build some momentum?  Are there other resources you need?  Sometimes the best action involves finding the right resources.

Linda, as I read your post, I couldn't help but be reminded of a conversation I had with myself in my Business Journal several years ago. It was about marketing; you know that resistance that so many of us on our own seem to create to getting the message out there about what we do.

I found myself asking this question: "What is it that so excites me that I cannot help but want to tell others about it?"

Also, thanks for your post's encouragment. I'm working on some real exciting things right now and you just reminded me to be thankful for this!

I've had resistance to a whole series of videos I've mapped out in my mind, just because I don't want to go to the hassle of setting it up. Planning an always-set-up "video corner" in my new office once the built-ins are installed. That ought to take care of that, ha!

I am blessed and cursed to have so many ideas it is overwhelming. I feel like it is an all or nothing thing and that I must either take complete action (and be perfect at it:) or do nothing at all. I love the challenge of picking one idea and taking one step forward, then evaluating how I feel about the idea. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the inspiration. Once again your lead quote is just perfect. Perhaps "chance favors the prepared mind" would also be appropriate. Having just returned from a fantastic marketing summit I plan to take action on some key things I learned there! Thanks Linda.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this line, "Creativity and inspiration will only lead to excellence when it is followed by action."

So many gain valuable knowledege at conferences, seminars, and workshops, on teleclasses and webinars, and through coaching relationships and mastermind groups ... and then do nothing with it!

Taking action on your big ideas and taking steps to achieve your goals is the critical part to reaching success!
