Warren Buffet's Advice

"The one piece of advice I can give you is,
do what turns you on.
Do something that if you had all the money in the world,

you’d still be doing it.
You’ve got to have a reason to
jump out of bed in the morning."

~Warren Buffet

You need to have passion for what you do every day.  That is what sustains you when times are tough or when you are facing tasks that are a challenge.  If you do what you love, you bring to your job creativity, enthusiasm, energy and joy.  That is contagious and communicates itself to your clients or customers. If you really have a passion for your career and are willing to commit yourself to the expression of that passion, you'll find a way to make it successful.

This week: Think about what got you interested in the job you currently hold.  Is there passion there, or was there passion at one time?  If you've lost it, think about what you'd need to be able to recapture it.  If you are doing something that you are not passionate about, is there something else you need to be doing? If so, figure out what the first step might be in moving into that.  Don't get scared--you don't have to make a jump right now.  Just consider what small thing you could do to move you in that direction.  Sometimes it may be just acknowledging your dream.  What's your dream?

Don't Assume Your Dreams Are Impossible

"It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow."

~Robert H. Goddard

It is important not to assume that your dreams are impossible.  Things that we once thought were impossible are everyday events now.  The dreams you create set the stage for the solutions to them.  When you really allow yourself to dream, to imagine the "what ifs," you set in motion a process in your brain for ideas and solutions to percolate and come to the surface.  Each step brings you closer to their creation.

This week:  Allow yourself to dream a bit.  What would you like to achieve, even if you don't really think it is possible?   Imagine "What if it were possible?"  Picture it in vivid detail.  Hear what people would say about it.  Feel the feelings you would associate with having that dream come true.  Now, ask yourself:  "What one small step could I take this week, to help bring this dream into reality?"  Allow your unconscious thoughts to find solutions.  Write them down and take a small action.  You will be beginning to bring that dream into reality.

Unleash the Power of Your Thoughts

"Man's greatness lies in his power of thought."

 ~ Blaise Pascal

It is true.  Humans can think, dream, and create through their thought processes.  Anything we can think of, we can achieve.  Our brains are designed to help us manifest what we think about.  When you harness the power of thought, there really is nothing you cannot do.

This week:  Do some dreaming.  Think about what you would like to accomplish this year.  Think about what you would like to create if you knew you could not fail.  Spend some time just thinking about your life and how you would like it to be.  What changes would you make if you could?  Imagine that those changes have ALREADY been made.  How is your life different?  Allow the power of thought to begin to make those changes for you.  Just notice what your brain and your thoughts are creating.  It may not happen overnight (although it MAY), but you may find yourself making gradual changes because you had those thoughts.

Your Visions and Your Dreams Guide You

"Cherish your visions and your dreams. They are the children of your soul and the blueprints of your ultimate achievements."

~Napolean Hill

Sometimes people act as if their dreams and visions aren't important. They act as if they are some far-away, unreachable, imaginary thing that will never happen. In fact, your dreams and visions guide you unconsciously. They create that blueprint for the future you'd like to have. Appreciate them!

This week: Get in touch with your dreams and your vision. What would you like to be doing? What or who would you like to have in your life? What would be the first step in making this happen? Begin to design a plan for making your visions and dreams into a blueprint. It all begins with a small step toward that big dream!

Dream BIG

"The universe will fill your cup — if you carry a big cup, a little cup, or a thimble!"

~Sonia Choquette

Whatever you think about or dream about, you hold the power to make happen. So, dream BIG! Allow the universe to fill a big cup--of abundance, of joy, of creativity, of love, of all the things you most want.

This week: Take an outcome you would like to have happen, and expand it. Create a BIG dream. Then notice what happens in you. Are you filled with ideas about how to make it happen? Or does your self doubt make you believe it is impossible? Challenge yourself. Keep dreaming big until those dreams begin to manifest. Your imagination is like a muscle that needs to be stretched.

The Relationship Between Vision and Action

"Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world."

~Joel Barker
In order to have the sort of results that are meaningful, we need to combine both vision and action. When you combine a vision--how you would like things to be--with action to make it happen, the sky is the limit. And when that vision and action are powered by passion, we really can change the world.
This week: Pay attention to the vision you'd like to achieve. Develop a plan and begin to take some small action. Make sure that both your vision and action come from a space of excitement, anticipation and passion. Imagine what would happen if you continue to take actions toward this vision. Also imagine others who share your vision taking action and driven by that same passion. See how powerful this "movement" becomes?

Facing Your Challenges

"The best way out is through."

~Robert Frost

When you are stuck or are faced with challenges, the best way out of your dilemma is to face the challenge and move on through it. Even if you are afraid, if you can face your fear, you can conquer it.

This Week: Think about what is challenging you. Is there something you've been trying to avoid? Hoping it will just go away or resolve itself without your doing something? Sorry, it usually doesn't work that way. This week, see if you can face that thing you've been avoiding. Take it on. Do some small thing to address it. If you keep putting the small steps one in front of the other, before you know it, you'll have passed through the challenge to the other side.

Linda Pucci, Ph.D. is a psychologist, life coach and trainer at Inner Resource Center, LLC in Maryville, TN. Living the Life You Imagine

"It's time to start living the life you've imagined."
~Henry James
Too often people postpone their dreams. They think they will do what they want when they retire, or when they get a little bit of money set aside. They allow the tasks of every day to get in the way of achieving their life they've imagined.
This week: Take time to imagine the life you would like to be living. What would you be doing? Who would you share this with? Now, figure out ONE SMALL THING you could do to bring you a little bit closer to the life you've imagined. Then DO IT. Do it now. Do it this week. It's time.
