Don't Just Wait--Take Action

"While we wait for tomorrow, we must act for today."

~Mani Sivasubramanian
This is especially true for us now. While we may be hoping that things will get better in the future, we must still take action today. In fact taking action is a way to take charge of your future. While things don't always work out exactly the way you might plan, taking an action to create the future outcome you are seeking is really the only way to ensure that you are moving toward it.
This week: Ask yourself: "What outcome have I been waiting for?" What do you want to have happen? Ask yourself "What action can I take to help create this outcome?" Take action, even something small each day. The more action you take, the less waiting will be involved.

The Relationship Between Vision and Action

"Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world."

~Joel Barker
In order to have the sort of results that are meaningful, we need to combine both vision and action. When you combine a vision--how you would like things to be--with action to make it happen, the sky is the limit. And when that vision and action are powered by passion, we really can change the world.
This week: Pay attention to the vision you'd like to achieve. Develop a plan and begin to take some small action. Make sure that both your vision and action come from a space of excitement, anticipation and passion. Imagine what would happen if you continue to take actions toward this vision. Also imagine others who share your vision taking action and driven by that same passion. See how powerful this "movement" becomes?

Help Love Grow

"Love is like a mustard seed; planted by God and watered by men."

~Muda Saint Michael

Love is sacred, but must be nurtured in order to grow. We water it by giving it to others, noticing it when others water it too. Love needs to be shared in order to grow.

This week: Express your love and caring to others around you. Even if you don't have a special romantic love interest, nurture love by expressing it to those you meet in your every day life--the clerk in the store, the man in the street, your co-workers. Give them your love by smiling, by saying "hello," and by acknowledging their presence with warmth and caring.

Find Your Inner Peace

"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence."

~from Desiderata by Max Ehrmann

The beginning lines of this poem always remind me to slow down, to take a moment to find peace within myself. In our busy lives, it is especially important to take a break from the noise and the haste. It is important to give yourself the time and space necessary to go inside yourself and reconnect with your inner peace. For it is from this inner peace that we are able to create solutions to our life's challenges, and connect with that wise part of ourselves that knows what we need most to be happy and successful.
This week: Take just 10 minutes every day somewhere peaceful. Turn off the T.V., radio and iPod. Shut the door on interruptions. Breathe deeply and connect with your inner peace. Although this may seem difficult, do it anyway. Notice what a moment's peace can do to replenish your spirit.
