Live Each Day Fully

"And in the end it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."

~Abraham Lincoln

If you want your life to count, you need to live with meaning.  Don't waste your time doing unimportant things.  If you do not yet know what your life's purpose is, discovering it can change everything.  If you life according to your life's purpose, you begin to live with passion, with creativity, with intention, with meaning.  You make those years count.  You impact not only YOUR life, but the lives of those with whom you come in contact.

This week:  Think about how you would like your life to be remembered.  What is really most important to you?  What do you feel passionate about?  What do you stand for?  What themes have played out in you life?  Is there a hint in all that about what you are meant to do, what your life's true purpose is?  To know your life's purpose, you must first know yourself, because that purpose needs to fit you.  Spend some time this week thinking about what is most important to you, what your unique gifts may be, and how you would like to make your life count.

You Have to Take Action

"Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

~Will Rogers

It doesn't matter if you are on the right track if you don't take action to move forward. You can have the best ideas and they won't get you anywhere. Steady movement forward towards the outcome you have envisioned builds momentum and speed, and, just like the locomotive, you'll reach your destination.

This week: Take one of your ideas and take some action to move forward. Now build on that and continue to take action, doing something every day. At the end of the week, take stock in what you have accomplished. Are you on the right track? If not, shift gears and take some more action on another track. The key is taking action.

Your Visions and Your Dreams Guide You

"Cherish your visions and your dreams. They are the children of your soul and the blueprints of your ultimate achievements."

~Napolean Hill

Sometimes people act as if their dreams and visions aren't important. They act as if they are some far-away, unreachable, imaginary thing that will never happen. In fact, your dreams and visions guide you unconsciously. They create that blueprint for the future you'd like to have. Appreciate them!

This week: Get in touch with your dreams and your vision. What would you like to be doing? What or who would you like to have in your life? What would be the first step in making this happen? Begin to design a plan for making your visions and dreams into a blueprint. It all begins with a small step toward that big dream!

Facing Your Challenges

"The best way out is through."

~Robert Frost

When you are stuck or are faced with challenges, the best way out of your dilemma is to face the challenge and move on through it. Even if you are afraid, if you can face your fear, you can conquer it.

This Week: Think about what is challenging you. Is there something you've been trying to avoid? Hoping it will just go away or resolve itself without your doing something? Sorry, it usually doesn't work that way. This week, see if you can face that thing you've been avoiding. Take it on. Do some small thing to address it. If you keep putting the small steps one in front of the other, before you know it, you'll have passed through the challenge to the other side.

Linda Pucci, Ph.D. is a psychologist, life coach and trainer at Inner Resource Center, LLC in Maryville, TN.
