Choose to Believe in Your Value

"You are always a valuable, worthwhile human being, not because anybody says so, not because you're successful, not because you make a lot of money, but because you decide to believe it and for no other reason."

~ Wayne Dyer

When you believe in yourself, you unleash the power to create, to achieve, to inspire.  You unleash your own potential and authenticity, simply by choosing to believe that you are valuable and worthwhile.  When you do that, you share a great gift with the world. Why would you choose to believe anything else?

This week:  When you are assailed by doubt or by negative beliefs about yourself, challenge those.  Remember they are just things you are choosing to believe.  Ask yourself  "Is this really true?"  When you feel tempted to depend on other people (no matter how near and dear they are to you) or external measurements to define your worth, challenge that.  No one except you and God really knows you and your worth.  Choose for this week to believe in your value.  Don't worry, it won't make you arrogant.  When you believe in your worth, you have more to offer.  Focus this week on what you have to offer the world, just because you are worthwhile.

Value What You Are

Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are.

~Malcolm S. Forbes

For some reason we often place a lot of emphasis on what we are lacking. While some people think that should motivate them to change or to become what they are lacking, it usually doesn't work that way. It is more important to accept and value what you are. After all, you are unique in all the world, and although you may not be quite what you want to be--yet--you cannot become that desired person until you really value who and what you already are.

This week: Spend some time focusing your attention on what you are, as opposed to what you are not. Appreciate yourself. Notice those things that you value about yourself. Treasure your idiosyncracies. If you have trouble doing this, ask a close friend or loved one what they value about you. This allows you to see the value that you bring to others. Understand that you don't have to be perfect to bring value to the world.

Linda Pucci, Ph.D. is a psychologist, life coach and expert in helping people find their inner resources--those resources they may have buried inside. Know Your Value

"We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals

that deep inside us is something valuable, worth listening to,

worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch."

~e.e. cummings

We all begin to develop our sense of ourselves in childhood, when parents or others let us know that we are valuable. If you happen to have missed that stage in your development, it is never too late. When we are loved, no matter by whom, we learn that we are valuable, worth listening to, worthy of trust, and sacred. That special, valuable "something" which resides inside of each of us is our SELF, that expression of our soul and reason for being. It is unique. It is valuable. Treasure it!

This week: Be the person who notices that valuable thing in others. Let them know you've noticed their specialness. Show them that they are worth listening to. Give them the gift of love. Appreciate them, not for what they DO, but just for being themselves.
