Life Should be Enjoyed

"Maybe you are here on earth to learn that life is what you make of it, and it's to be enjoyed."
~Dick Sutphen

The concept that life is to be enjoyed is pretty foreign to a lot of people. Many people believe that life is difficult, life is a series of challenges, that they will never succeed or be happy. In reality, you can choose how you react to the circumstances in which you find yourself. Think about how different your life would be if you chose to be happy?

This week: Set an intention and be determined to live your life as if it is to be enjoyed. Hit an obstacle? Ask yourself "how does this fit with a life to be enjoyed?" Do you have to give importance to snags you hit? Move on through them. Be determined to enjoy life in spite of the hiccups that life may throw you.

How to Live on Purpose

"The fruits of a fulfilling life—happiness, confidence, enthusiasm, purpose, and money—are mainly by-products of doing something we enjoy, with excellence, rather than things we can seek directly."

~Dan Miller

When you live with purpose, doing something that you are passionate about, enjoyment tends to follow. When you commit yourself to excellence--being the best you can be, using your skills and gifts fully, your life also takes on a fullness that is missing when you are just going through the motions.

This week: Do something you feel strongly about or that you enjoy. Notice whether the "fruits of a fulfilling life" accompany that. Do you feel happier? More confident? More enthusiastic? Did you feel more purposeful? Did you make money at it? If you felt even a little bit more fulfilled, you are on the right track.

Linda Pucci, Ph.D. is a psychologist, life coach and expert in helping people live more meaningful, happier lives. She specializes in helping people get rid of emotional clutter--those negative emotions and limiting beliefs formed from past experiences, and find their life's purpose. Dream BIG

"The universe will fill your cup — if you carry a big cup, a little cup, or a thimble!"

~Sonia Choquette

Whatever you think about or dream about, you hold the power to make happen. So, dream BIG! Allow the universe to fill a big cup--of abundance, of joy, of creativity, of love, of all the things you most want.

This week: Take an outcome you would like to have happen, and expand it. Create a BIG dream. Then notice what happens in you. Are you filled with ideas about how to make it happen? Or does your self doubt make you believe it is impossible? Challenge yourself. Keep dreaming big until those dreams begin to manifest. Your imagination is like a muscle that needs to be stretched.

Changing Your Perceptions Changes Your Outlook

"If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."

~Dr. Wayne Dyer

How you choose to perceive things that happen in your life really determines what you think about them, and how you feel about them. For instance, when you perceive something as a problem, it takes on a certain heaviness, and may even seem insurmountable. If you perceive that same situation as a challenge, it energizes you to seek solutions.

I recently had the opportunity to relearn about this when my husband was burned in a fire at his equipment building. We didn't look at this as a catastrophe; we looked at it as a challenge to be met. His injuries have been a set-back, not something we choose to perceive as permanent. As a result, I think, he has made a much speedier recovery.

This week: If you feel stuck in some area of your life, check to see how you are looking at it. Is there a way you can change your thinking? Can you reframe it as a challenge? Or maybe even an opportunity? Or even as "life's little hiccup?" Notice how your feelings change when you change how you look at things.
