Make New Results

"Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new end."

~As We Understood
(An Alanon Publication)

As you approach a New Year, it is a good time to begin thinking about the results you want in the upcoming year.  You can't undo the past, but you can use your past results as feedback about what has worked and not worked.  You can learn from the lessons of those past mistakes and challenges.   When you do that, you begin to build the potential for a new end--new results.

This week: Think back over the past year.  What would you change if you  had the power?  What do you want to experience this year?  What don't you want to experience?  What lessons did you learn from those experiences.  What will you need to do differently to make a different outcome with different results?  Remember, you can only change YOUR life--you don't really have the power to change someone else.

Linda Pucci, Ph.D. is a psychologist, life coach and expert in helping people create the results they are seeking in order to make their lives meaningful and happy.  For more information go to http://www.innerresourcecenter.com/ .

Happiness Is Within You

Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.

~Marcus Aurelius

Happiness does not come from outside of ourselves.  It comes from within.  We decide how we will feel.  We decide how happy or sad we will be.  The way we think about our lives and the events that happen determine the emotions we will feel.  If you want to be happier, change your thinking.

This week:  Take a good look at the thoughts that determine whether you feel happy or sad.  Are you always thinking negative thoughts?  Is your glass "half empty" rather than "half full?"  Ask yourself:  "What would I need to believe in order to be happier?"  For just one week, adopt that belief.  That belief has the potential to be just as "true" as a belief that makes you feel badly.  Notice how you feel.  If you struggle with believing something more positive, consider getting some help to banish these negative beliefs.

Linda Pucci, Ph.D. is a psychologist, life coach and expert at helping people overcome the limiting beliefs that block their success and happiness.  She specializes in helping people get rid of "emotional clutter"--those negative emotions and limiting beliefs that we form from past negative experiences.  For more information go to http://www.innerresourcecenter.com/ or http://www.emotionalclutter.com/

Postponing Things Until Tomorrow Keeps You Stuck

"Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week."

~ Spanish Proverb

Too often we postpone taking action.  We procrastinate.  We decide that we don't have time today to do what needs to be done.  We postpone relaxation or happiness for vacation or retirement.  We postpone telling a loved one how important they are until it is too late.  We think we will be successful tomorrow--when some special project is completed or some award has been earned.  The problem is that we postpone living a full and satisfying life.  And tomorrow never comes...

This week:  Identify something you have been postponing, something you have put off until "tomorrow."  DECIDE that you are going to take an action to accomplish it TODAY--maybe just some small action.  Then, each day take another small action.  You will find yourself slowly and steadily building momentum until your project is completed or until you have begun living in the present moment instead of postponing being satisfied until some far off "tomorrow."

Linda Pucci, Ph.D. is a psychologist, life coach and expert in helping people live happy, meaningful, successful lives.  She is good at helping even the biggest procrastinator take action, helping them build momentum toward their goals.  She specializes in helping people overcome the "mental clutter" and limiting beliefs that often contribute to procrastination.  For more information, go to http://www.innerresourcecenter.com/

If You Want Your Life to Be Different, You Have to Decide to Change

"You are the way you are because that's the way you want to be. If you really wanted to be any different, you would be in the process of changing right now."

~Fred Smith

We all have the ability to change in ways that will make our lives work better for us--to be happier, more successful, more satisfied with our lives.  But the most important thing to do is to DECIDE to change.  Once that happens, you can set into motion ways to change what isn't working.

This week:  Think about how your life is right now.  What isn't working for you?  What would make your life more satisfying?  Make sure you are thinking about YOUR life, and not someone else's.  You don't have the ability to make someone else behave differently--you can only change yourself.  DECIDE to change some area of your life during 2010.  Really commit yourself to making this change.  Make sure what you decide to change is something that is really compelling for you.  Otherwise you won't make the change.  Now decide what steps you will need to take to make those changes.  Congratulations!  You have just laid out a plan for making a change that is important to you!
