Success Requires Focus

Concentrate all your thoughts on the task at hand. The sun's rays do not burn until brought to a focus
~ Graham Bell
You can have a lot of great ideas and dreams, but until you begin to focus your attention and energy on them, they remain unrealized. The key to success in any project or goal is putting your focus where you want it. This means focusing your time, your energy, your focus and your money on the outcome you want to achieve. Without that focus, you are likely to remain stuck--floundering around--despite those great ideas and dreams.
This week: Determine some area of your life where you need to increase your focus. Just for this week, concentrate your attention and energy on this area or specific task. Commit some time to it, maybe an hour a day or whatever you can manage. At the end of the week, notice what has happened. Have you made progress? Do you feel less scattered? Consider how you can increase your focus next week...

Learn to Use the Power of Your Mind to Heal

"We can tap our own healing forces by learning to use the power the mind has over the body. Healing is part of self-realization, a process of becoming whole and healthy."

~Dr. Gerald Epstein

I've watched this process occur as my husband has healed from his burns. Sometimes determination is one of the greatest healers. And when you realize that your mind can help heal you, it empowers you to live fully.
Yes, you have to actually take some action to make it happen, but your mind holds the key. When you activate your own healing energy and direct it to heal you, you become powerful in a humble way. You are working with your own energy to manifest an outcome with your physical body, and your mind is intimately intertwined in this process.

This week: Experiment with using your own healing energy in some area of your life. Imagine yourself sending your breath into some place of dis-ease or pain. Allow your mind to quiet, and to allow peace to wash over you. Settle on down into a place in your mind of safety and relaxation. Notice what happens in your body--even if it is for only a moment. Practice increasing the length of time you feel it by relaxing even more. Be one with the universe. Be one with the energy that surrounds you. Love yourself. So be it.

Your Visions and Your Dreams Guide You

"Cherish your visions and your dreams. They are the children of your soul and the blueprints of your ultimate achievements."

~Napolean Hill

Sometimes people act as if their dreams and visions aren't important. They act as if they are some far-away, unreachable, imaginary thing that will never happen. In fact, your dreams and visions guide you unconsciously. They create that blueprint for the future you'd like to have. Appreciate them!

This week: Get in touch with your dreams and your vision. What would you like to be doing? What or who would you like to have in your life? What would be the first step in making this happen? Begin to design a plan for making your visions and dreams into a blueprint. It all begins with a small step toward that big dream!

Be the Best You Can Be

“Whatever you are, be a good one.”
~Abraham Lincoln
All of us have a path to take in this life, and no matter what you are, you owe it to yourself and others to strive for excellence. If you want to make a difference, if you want your life to count, be the best that you can be. No matter what career you hold, be good at it.
This week: Identify an area in your career (or in some other area of your life) where you could improve. What would you need to do differently? What would you need to know? What steps could you take to bring about that improvement? What is the first step? Begin to do it. Notice how it feels to commit yourself to excellence.
Linda Pucci, Ph.D. is a psychologist, life coach and expert in helping people achieve excellence in a way that is meaningful.

Being Authentic Creates the Climate for Success

"So often we wait for the climate and conditions in life to be perfect before we feel safe enough to step forward, trust, and be our authentic selves. What we don't realize is that in order to create the ideal climate we are waiting for, we must be authentic first."

~Sonia Choquette

Many people are reluctant to be their authentic selves. They are afraid they won't be accepted or liked. They often hold back, and think that they will wait until they have reached a greater level of success; then show others who they really are. They don't realize that by being authentic first, they can attact greater success.

This week: Take a chance on being authentic in some situation where you might ordinarily hold back. Notice what happens. Are you able to begin to build a more authentic relationship with someone? Isn't it likely that this authentic relationship will ultimately bring you greater success? And the success will be sweeter because it is achieved by an AUTHENTIC YOU!

Let Go of Worries and Live Fully

"Live boldly. Take off those shackles and live life on your own terms."

~Varla Ventura

Have you ever noticed how much we keep ourselves prisoner to our worries and anxieties--all those "what ifs" that we conjure up? Have you noticed that when we focus on what "might" happen, we too seldom focus on the big success we might have? When you allow yourself to be imprisoned by your worries, you absolutely keep yourself from having success. You aren't living fully, and you aren't being yourself.
This week: Focus on what might happen if you took off the shackles of your anxiety, and began to live boldly. Imagine what could happen if you knew you could not fail. Embrace the possibility of living on your own terms. What would be different? Focus on the feeling you get when you are imagining that outcome. Breathe deeply several times. What would be the first thingyou would need to do to begin creating that outcome? Do it!
